SOUTH BAY PONY SPRING BASEBALL
Spring is the Primary Baseball Season for South Bay PONY (SBP) Baseball. Boys and Girls, ages 4-14, from all over South Bay are invited to play. There is no experience necessary. Everyone makes a team and everyone is guaranteed playing time. We focus on developing people and athletes. Our mantra is "Process over Results". If we teach good fundamentals, good effort, and good sportsmanship then we have already achieved success and the victories on the field will come. You have no idea how fun and rewarding youth baseball can be until you have tried PONY Baseball.
Registration typically runs from mid-October until some point in early January. Then the league administrators take some time to coordinate coaches, run evaluation sessions for the older players, and set all of the teams. During this time we are handling a lot of logistics behind the scenes, including ordering jerseys and equipment, and arranging field time for both practices and games. Typically teams will be announced at some point in early February and the final schedule will be announced by the end of the month.
Opening Day is typically early in March. We have a big Open Day Ceremony with all the teams and parents, lots of food and entertainment, and some honored guests. The highlight is the parade of teams, as all the teams are announced and the kids march through in their shiny new uniforms. The main season runs from March through May. All Star Tournaments and Playoffs follow the main season, typically running through the month of June and into July.
There are 8 Divisions in the Spring Season.
- Shetland American (4-5 years old)
- Shetland National (5-6 years old)
- Pinto American (7 years old)
- Pinto National (8 years old)
- Mustang American (9-10 years old)
- Mustang National (9-10 years old)
- Bronco (11-12 years old)
- Pony (13-14 years old)
Please see the Divisions Summary page for details.
Players in the Spring Season are assigned a division based on their birthday. With rare exceptions, players are not allowed to "play-up" or "play-down" from their age-based Division. For Spring 2023 there will be an exception for those children affected by the new Age Determination Date (born May 1 to Aug 31).TIMELINE - SPRING 2024 SEASON

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are a critical part of PONY Baseball. We could not provide such high quality baseball at affordable prices for all of South Bay without the tireless dedication of hundreds of volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers to coach, work the snack stand, help maintain the fields, organize fundraising events, and manage the logistics of the league.
Please contact the league (Contact Us) or one of our Board Members (Board of Directors) if you have any interest in volunteering.
